Power BI has emerged as a leader in business analytics tools. Using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, organizations can quickly and easily analyze data and share insights in their organizations. This one-day, hands-on workshop will give you all the essential skills you need to quickly build and share reports.

Description

Using the Power BI Desktop, members of the workshop will connect to multiple data sources, cleanse and model the data to gain critical insights, and create powerful visualizations quickly. Reports will be published to the Power BI Service, where users will learn about dashboards, report sharing, security and data refreshes.

Intro & Getting your data

  • Choose a licensing strategy 
  • Connect to and import data from cloud and on-premises data sources 
  • Use Direct Query
  • Use Power BI query editor to transform data  

 

Building your data model

  • Create relationships in Power BI model 
  • Create and use hierarchies 
  • Use PBI Desktop to create quick measures 
  • Use DAX to create calculated columns and measures 

 

Building your reports

  • Create visualizations 
  • Create interactive reports using visualizations
  • Explore advanced visualization techniques 

 

Sharing your reports

  • Publish reports to Power BI service 
  • Create dashboards
  • Create and leverage app workspace
  • Create and leverage row level security 
  • Refresh data in published reports
